About Me

I soon learnt that putting on makeup is a skill and has to be worked at, you can't just slap it on and expect to look perfect.

I used to wander around our local Mall looking at shops that sold beauty products to learn what I could, buying magazines and such was not possible.

It would have been nice to go online to learn from sites like this - Who What Wear. but back then we had no internet connection at home.

I am Alma and I was born on the island of Bohol in the Philippines in 1980 and this is my website.

From my teen years, like most young girls I was interested in "The Body Beautiful".

My grandfather had a store, and as a young girl I spent too much time in front of the mirror playing with my makeup before going to work and helping him, serving behind the counter.
I think shopkeeping is in my family's blood but it was not until one of my aunt's, who had a shop in another town, decided to sell-up that I saw a chance to have a store of my own,

So I persuaded her to let me have her cabinets, equipment and stock on the "never-never". I was on my way.

My partner, Peter, who is an Englishman in Bohol, had bought a good sized house with a couple of acres near Trinidad. No, not Trinidad-Jamaica but Trinidad-Bohol and this is where I setup my shop.

I have heard that in the UK the majority of white skinned people want to develope, what is known as a "healthy looking tan" so for vacations they travel to Spain or The Cote D'Azure, France..
Initially I sold clothing for women and children, there are a lot of children in the Philippines, large families are traditional and there were some beauty products.

I expanded our range of cosmetics as soon as I could, for this is where my interest lay.

The majority of the cosmetics I sell in my shop are related to skin care and in particular skin whitening products my choise in the Philippines and probably other countries as well!

As Filipinos we all seem to want whiter skin. So we do all we can to stay out of the sun but with the average daytime temperature here around 30 deg.centigrade.

It is nice to be in the open air but you stay well covered up. Nobody sunbathes here.

Here they lay on the beach in the sun and cook, probably with a good covering of Ambre Solair sun tan oil, a bit like cooking oil only with a different color! until they go brown and/or develop skin cancer.

What a strange world we live in, don't you think!

To help reduce the possability of skin cancer we now have bronzing creams and the like and I am promoting

Plus other bronzing agents so you can have a nice looking sun tan just like a Filipina.

So when you head south for your vacation you do not have to cook in the sun and risk skin cancer.

I think this is the way forward!

Apply the correct shade of "Hoola" to your face and the result should be a nicely blended bronze look. .
When Covid-19 hit the Philippines in January 2020, about the same time that the UK has it's first case, the whole country was effectively shut down and nobody could enter or leave Bohol.

The shop sales suffered and it was at this time that my website was launched and during the past four or five months we have completely re-written "AlmasBeautyProducts"

So now it has a new face and as a bonus November 2021 tourist visas are now again possible.

Why not have a look at our Bohol Vacation Website so you can see what is in store if you choose to visit this beautiful part of The Philipines.
